Background

Lipozyme provides lipase to help break down fats in the diet to a more assimilable form.

Lipase is secreted by the pancreas and the small intestine. The function of lipase is to digest fats and break them down into a form which can be absorbed by the body i.e. into blycerol and fatty acids.

Lipozyme may be helpful when the diet is high in fats, placing a burden on the digestion. Fat-soluble vitamins such as A, E, E and K are absorbed more efficiently from the gut along the dietary fats.

Recommended Intake

Not to be used in gastric diseases.

Contra-indications

Do not use in cases of intestinal ulceration or gastritis. In cases of celiac disease, other factors must be considered and avoidance of cereals containing gluten may be best for the individual.
